Christmas Nativity Word Search – Free Printable PDF

Long ago in a little town, a star stopped above a humble stable, and the story that began there is hidden letter by letter on this page. This Christmas nativity word search invites children to find eighteen words from the first Christmas, from the angel’s message to the gifts of the wise men.

Christmas nativity word search with a 15x15 grid, 18 Bible words and a stable scene with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus

The size of the letter grid is 15 by 15. A line beneath it reads “Words are hidden,” followed by five arrows pointing right, down, left, up and diagonally down to the right, so some words read backwards or climb upward. The word bank lists eighteen words in two columns. The first column reads Angel, Bethlehem, Donkey, Emmanuel, Frankincense, Gabriel, Gold, Jesus and Joseph. The second reads Manger, Mary, Myrrh, Nazareth, Shepherd, Stable, Star, Wise Men and Advent. Together, they retell the whole nativity story, from Nazareth to Bethlehem.

In the bottom right corner, a nativity scene waits to be colored. A wooden stable with a thick thatched roof of straw shelters the Holy Family, with a small star on the peak of the roof and a large, shining star with long rays glowing inside, surrounded by tiny stars. Sprigs of holly hang from the beams. Joseph stands in the center, bearded and wearing a headcloth, holding a shepherd’s crook. Beside him, Mary kneels in a soft veil with her hands folded in prayer. Between them, baby Jesus sleeps in a wooden manger filled with straw. A gentle donkey watches from the left, an ox peeks in from the right, and two woolly sheep rest nearby. A lantern with a glowing candle stands on a post at the edge of the stable.

The puzzle suits ages 9 and up, and its words connect naturally to the Bible story. It’s a meaningful choice as a Sunday school Christmas word search, an Advent activity at home or a quiet moment at a church holiday gathering.
