Easy Butterfly Coloring Page

A single butterfly spreads its wings wide across the page, as if it has just landed to rest in the sunshine. This butterfly coloring page is drawn with extra-thick, chunky outlines and big, open shapes, which places it among the best bold and easy coloring pages for toddlers, preschoolers, and anyone who enjoys relaxed, stress-free coloring.

Butterfly coloring page with bold lines, wing patterns, circular spots, and a segmented body design.

The butterfly is seen from directly above, perfectly centered on the page, and its left and right halves mirror each other exactly. Its body runs straight down the middle. At the top is a small round head, and from it two long antennae curve up and outward, like the arms of someone stretching. Each one ends in a small ring-shaped knob. Below the head, the body forms a long, slender shape that tapers to a soft rounded point at the bottom. The lower half of the body is crossed by five horizontal stripes, like the segments of a caterpillar.

On each side of the body are two wings, a large upper wing and a smaller lower wing. Every wing has a soft, wavy outer edge, like a cloud or a scalloped cookie. A second line runs just inside that edge and follows its curves, creating a border that frames each wing like a picture frame.

The two upper wings are the most decorated. Inside each one, a large spiral curls inward toward a small center close to the body, like a snail shell or a rolled-up fern. Near the outer edge of each upper wing, three small ring-shaped circles are spaced apart like buttons.

The two lower wings are simpler. Each has one small ring near its outer edge, and three straight lines run diagonally from the body toward the wing’s tip. These lines divide the lower wing into long, stripe-like sections, similar to the veins of a real butterfly wing.
