Christmas Complete the Picture – Gingerbread Man

Someone took a bite right down the middle of this cookie, and now only half a gingerbread man is left. This Christmas complete the picture activity invites children to draw his missing side, which makes it a festive and playful symmetry drawing worksheet.

Christmas complete the picture worksheet with half a gingerbread man with buttons and icing to mirror on a grid

The half that remains begins with a large, round head. It has one round eye and half of a wide, curving smile that reaches all the way to the center line, ready to be finished on the other side. Below the head, a short neck leads into his body. One arm stretches straight out to the side, ending in a rounded hand. Near the wrist, two wavy lines of icing run side by side like a decorated cuff. One leg slants down and outward, as if he were mid-step, ending in a rounded foot with two wavy icing lines just above it.

Down the middle of his body, along the center line, sit three half-circle buttons, stacked one above the other. Once the right side is drawn, each will become a full, round button.

Finishing him means copying the eye, the arm and leg with their icing, and the other half of every button and of the smile, until a cheerful, complete gingerbread man is ready to be colored in warm cookie browns.
