Christmas Scramble Game for Kids Ages 9–12
Seventeen holiday words have been shaken up like snow in a snow globe, and it will take sharp eyes and a patient mind to set them right again. This Christmas scramble game mixes familiar festive words with longer, trickier ones, making it one of the most satisfying Christmas puzzles for older kids and families.
Across the top of the page stretches a lush Christmas garland made of full evergreen branches with needle-like leaves. Three large ribbon bows are tied along it, one on the left, one in the center and one on the right, each with long tails that curl downward. Round ornaments are tucked among the branches, decorated with stripes, stars, polka dots and a delicate snowflake. Smaller baubles and star-shaped ornaments dangle below on thin strings, and pinecones and sprigs of holly with round berries fill the gaps.

Beneath the garland, a column of seventeen scrambled words runs down the page, each written in capital letters. To the right of each word is a row of empty square boxes, one box for each letter. The shortest rows have six boxes, and the rows grow longer toward the bottom of the page. The final word stretches across eleven boxes, so the rows together look a little like a staircase, or the widening branches of a Christmas tree.
With words up to eleven letters long, this puzzle is ideal for upper elementary students, classroom holiday centers and family game nights by the fire. Once the puzzle is solved, the garland is waiting to be colored too.
